You Might Be A Southern Belle If...

In honor of the Southern Author Event next year in Greenville, NC that I am out-of-my-mind-excited about I decided to jot down a few things that scream "I'm a GRITS!!"  No, not the delectable corn-based breakfast option found in every kitchen below the Mason Dixon line, but Girls Raised In The South!  Also known as southern belles.

Now you may be asking yourself - how do I know if I'm a southern belle?  First of all - if you're questioning your southern belle-ism, then you probably need to brush up on your southern belle etiquette.  So, check out my Top 25 "You might be a southern belle if you:" list!

You forgot a few other Southern-isms....
26. You know how to spell y'all, and know what it means. One person is you. Two or three is y'all. Four or more is all y'all.
27. When someone says they want a COKE, you know who wants a DR. PEPPER, who wants a MOUNTAIN DEW, and who wants a PEPSI, without even asking for any clarification from anyone.

You might be GRITS if you consider a trip to the beach as a spa getaway complete with free whole body sand exfoliation. I already like you, I was bred and born in Alabama and I am nothing like Honey Boo Boo (gagggh). I really feel sorry for that family.

So, I'm from the northern part of the U.S. Illinois to be exact. But I feel like I don't fit in here. My mamma tried to raise me a city girl but I wasn't havin it. I actually had the pleasure of visiting Nashville, Tennessee, and I've never felt more at home. So my question to you, Ladies, is can it be possible for someone who was never born and raised the ways of a southerner, to at heart, possibly be a Southern Belle?
