The Daughters of the Sea Trilogy takes place on Bald Head Island, NC - one of my all time favorite places. I don't know if it's because you can only reach it by boat or that there are no cars allowed on the island or maybe it's just the simple beauty of it. Either way, I wanted to share a little bit of it with you!
This is standing on the east beach (where the House of Lorelei is located) looking toward Cape Fear. This is the stretch of sand Stasia and her roommates would have walked to get to the bonfire that first week in FORSAKEN. In the distance, you can see the Cape as it turns out into the ocean, creating the point.

The Frying Pan Shoals Light Station! This is where the Sons spend most of their time and also the location of the Cimmerian Ball (PS: there really is a helicopter pad on top)... below is a picture looking down from one of the platforms...eek!

It is so amazing to see that some of the places we read about in the book actually do exist. Shows us that magic is not always make-believe!
I am such a fan of the Daughters of the Sea trilogy. Partly because I call Bald Head Island home (second home really) but home none the less, and another because they are just great books. :)Amazing. My heart literally stopped when I found the books and looking at these pictures is like looking out my window or in my photo album. Thanks for writing about such a wonderful place.
Hi Sarah! I grew up vacationing on Oak Island and now my mother and older brother live there, so we spent many days over on Bald Head. There's a true magic that hangs over that island and if there really was a House of Lorelei - I couldn't imagine it being located anywhere else:)
I could not agree with you more. My parent have brought me to Bald Head since I was born, and I just fall in love with it again every time I'm there. What I like the most about the books is it captures the feel of the island. :)
